Oprah was right about the Kindle!

I finally got my grimy little hands on a Kindle 2...no, I didn't buy one (recession and all), but Melba, my colleague, received one as a birthday gift. I really didn't think I would enjoy it so much because I really love books. I often jot notes in the margins, underline relevant story lines or quotes and have even been known to dog ear a page (shocking, I know). I also enjoy digging through my overflowing bookshelves. But, the Kindle 2 is pretty cool. It is so much easier than carrying a heavy book around with you. It has a note taking feature as well as a bookmark feature. And, it has a dictionary so you can look up the definition of any word you don't know. You will never get the same feeling of cracking open the spine of a new book, but it is a pretty cool gadget for someone who enjoys reading.

Lucky dentist

My sister is slightly addicted to Nerds candy right now and I can't decide if I need to plan an intervention for her or embrace it. I did send her a link yesterday with Valentine Nerds in the mini boxes (her favorite) so I guess I have decided to feed the habit...I'm kind of thinking about getting this pillow for her too...cute, right?

Oink oink!

This Chip and Dip dish gives a whole new meaning to "pigging out". Wouldn't a spinach and artichoke dip look great in here? Yum!

One of my favorite nights of the year...

The Oscars
February 22, 2009

Play along at home with a printable ballot. That's what I'll be doing Sunday night...

Happy Birthday Everyone

On one of the rare occasions that I cook, I love to make things that look impressive - something that looks more labor intensive than it really was...I have found a few recipes that fit that bill, but have not yet mastered how to make a cake that looks like I worked really hard on it...until now! The Happy Birthday Cake Mold is awesome. I'm not sure what it would taste like, but "they" say it is even microwaveable...

Just a tiny mess...

My Little Sandbox has caused me, once again, to wonder if toys are more appreciated by my nephews or by my brother-in-law. I really thought my sister was going to curse my name for buying this for the boys (even though the woman at the toy store assured me that it really was not very messy). She didn't. Her first comment was "it won an award"...phew! It is pretty easy to keep the sand in the box to prevent making a huge mess. Everyone had fun playing with it this week-end, but I secretly think my brother-in-law loves it the most...

Chef on the go

For all those times you have been out and about and wished you had a whisk...Never fear - your prayers have been answered! Sterling Silver Whisk Earrings. Now if I could just find a measuring cup necklace...

Incredible shrinking woman

My nephews spent the night recently and I bought toys for each of them and Shrinky Dinks for myself.  I'm not sure who had more fun...actually, I know it was me.  They are just as much fun now as they were when I was a kid!
