Thing of the Month

Finally, a __________ of the Month club for kids. The Toddler Toy Club is an amazing holiday gift...4 months, 6 months or 12 months of award winning toys!

And, if you are looking for a gift for someone older than a toddler, Thing of the Month has an amazing selection of clubs for everyone from 0 to 100. The Biology Model Club for the budding scientist, the Activity Kit Club for little inventors, the Get Crafty Club for Martha Stewart fans or the Game Night Club for the fun family.

My nephews are all boy and they get bumps and bruises daily hourly...they rarely really hurt themselves, but they do occasionally like to be catered to when they do fall...they love getting their Boo Boo Buddy out of the freezer to put on their arms and legs. I'm not sure if they really help the boo boo, but they do stop the crying.

A no brainer...

I am generally pretty good at finding gifts for people, but I can't ever find anything for my brother-in-law. He claims that he doesn't need anything, but I still try to find gifts that I think he would like...one year it was Seasons 1 & 2 of Seinfeld, another time it was a subscription to Mental Floss magazineand a Timex Ironman watch. And, he hasn't loved any of them...

This year, I am not going to try to think of something for Lenny, but I do know of something that Tanya's husband Jeff would love...the Blade Runner (Five-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition). And, when I say love...I mean LOVE...as in - she might not have to get him another gift for the rest of his life...

Feeling practical?

This is not as much fun as buying tiny outfits, soft blankets or monogrammed burp cloths...but, it is an amazing gift! Pampers.com sells gift certificates for diapers that can be redeemed in any store that accepts coupons and sells Pampers. They can be purchased in anything from a 1 month to 2 year supply. A year of diapers...what a gift!

This week only

I want MORE mor!

The soaps from mor cosmetics are gorgeous...the packaging is beautiful. They look like little presents...luxurious presents to you buy for yourself. Or, if you can part with them, they are a great hostess gift...and, so much more original than a bottle of wine.

Fragrance free ferret mission

The Mission:

New mom Susann says, "Do you have any recommendations for a hand sanitizer that is gentle on hands, fragrance-free and as natural as possible? I have been using Purell, and aside from the fact that even MY hands are dry now, it can't be fun for my son to smell it. Thanks!"

The Solution:

CleanWell is all-natural and alcohol-free. The ingredients are safe for kids, non-toxic, and come from rapidly renewable resources.

Speaking of non-toxic

I wanted to make sure I mentioned my new cleaners, Tidy King. They use all eco-friendly products to clean your house. They are thorough, trustworthy and sooooooo nice! It feels so wonderful to come home to a clean house that does not smell like a bottle of bleach. If you are in the Atlanta area, be sure to check them out...you will not regret it!

Check the mailbox, Lisa!

My friend Lisa recently sent me a site to add to my blog, but sadly I had already written about it...she was so disappointed to have missed an opportunity to get a "shout out".

So, I'm ruining the surprise by mentioning it here, but I finally found a gift cute enough to buy for Lisa's son Mason...an adorable shirt from little uni. I love their pre-designed tees and onesies, but was even more excited that their amazing appliqué designs can be personalized with a baby's name. This might be my new favorite baby gift!

It's beginning to look a lot like...

My sister has been looking for a felt holiday calendar for years...she finally found it at The Land of Nod. These adorable Advent and Hanukkah calendars are a great way to help kids count down the days until Christmas or the eight nights of Hanukkah. They are so cute...and, the best part is you can hide little treats in the pockets.

Check mate

This is one of the coolest chess sets I have seen in a long time...The Book of Chess is made of heavy weight cardboard that folds up to store in its book-like case. I play chess so rarely that I can't remember the names of the pieces, but this set is great - each piece is labeled in a funky graffiti style font...now, I just need to remember which way the pieces move...and, develop my strategy...

My favorite time of the year

My dear friend Tanya, knowing that I love all things pumpkin, recently made a pumpkin cheesecake for my birthday...she regularly bakes, but I'm pretty sure that was a toughie...even for her...she made pumpkin bread this week and brought some of it to me and then tried to convince me that I too could make pumpkin bread. It is so easy, she said...ummmm...yes, with the help of Stonewall Kitchen, I agree. And, I don't want to sound too cocky, but I think my "baking" skills might be strong enough to attempt to "make" pumpkin spice bread pudding.

Pink lungs

Today is the 31st annual Great American Smokeout. The American Cancer Society is encouraging people to call their Quitline, a telephone-based counseling program or log on to their site to embark on a personal plan to quit.

If you aren't ready to call or can't get your loved ones to call, this ashtray from Perpetual Kid might help...it screams and coughs when you put a cigarette in it.

I love home fragrance diffusers, but have previously used a few that are waaay too strong...if the fragrance is too heavy, they almost smell bad. That is not the case at all with the Lavender and Chinese May Chang diffuser from Anthousa's Chinoiserie Collection. It is so fresh and clean, but very subtle and not the least bit overpowering. I smile every time I walk in the my house...the fragrance combination is intoxicating and calming at the same time. It really is a quite perfect blend.

Mmmm...warm and cozy...

I'm not exactly sure when pajamas got so expensive, but the weather is getting chilly and I have found myself longing for some comfy new flannel pj's...I found a cute pair at Neiman Marcus from Scanty. They look fabulous...I might never want to get out of bed though...

Make it a great day!

If something like this Blue Star Egg Ring had been created when I was a kid, my mother would have used it almost every morning to tell my sister and me that we were superstars...and, the one with the red heart would have been used every year for Valentine's Day. That is what she would have done for breakfast...by the time we ate lunch, we would have already found the cute notes hidden in our lunchboxes...Wait a minute - that sounds like a good place to live. Why did I ever move out of her house?

One penny at a time...

I love this bank from Perpetual Kid...the funny retro picture and whole idea of saving up for things...this one is for jeans, but they also have other ones to help you save for therapy, Jesus or fighting terrorism.

Just a sliver for me

When we have cakes in my office, the person who receives the cake is tasked with cutting it. I hate this practice, because I think that should be the one time you don't have to cut a cake because - let's be honest - cutting a cake is tricky. Does she really want a tiny slice or is she just pretending to be on a diet? Should I give him an extra large slice or is he dieting? The S-XL Cake Mold puts an end to all of that...your cake comes out pre-shaped in a variety of sizes to please everyone...now, I just need to find a way to get the cake to bake itself!

Kiss my lips

Soap & Glory's lip plumping gloss, Sexy Mother Pucker might not give you lips exactly like Angelina, but I prefer it to collagen - I would rather not reenact the Meg Ryan lip fiasco. Soap & Glory, the kitschy line from Marcia Kilgore (Bliss spa founder), is available for purchase at Target or Barney's Co-op stores (and will be available for purchase online soon). I definitely thought my lips looked more full, but wanted to make sure it wasn't just in my head and asked a few other people - they could see a difference too! I really love the nude one - it is a great color that looks good on almost everyone. And, don't be shocked - your lips will feel very tingly, but in a good way.

Bookmark this site!

AllMyFaves is one of the best sites I have found in a long time...however, I must give credit where credit is due...my mother told me about this site. And, when I asked her how she found it, her response was "well, I am the mother of the ferret!"

Halloween Candy = Cavities

In case you did not plan ahead like me and schedule a dental appointment for the day after Halloween, I have a great suggestion for getting all of the candy out of your teeth. The Philips Sonicare FlexCare Rechargeable Sonic Toothbrush is awesome...and, the best part is that it has an integrated ultraviolet sanitizer to remove bacteria.
